九地

The nine lands, i.e. the [lang id =1028]欲界 realm of desire or sensuous realm the four [lang id =1028]色界 realms of form or material forms; and the four [lang id =1028]無色界 formless realms, or realms beyond form; v. [lang id =1028]九有, [lang id =1028]九有情居, [lang id =1028]禪 and [lang id =1028]定. The nine realms are:--

(1) [lang id =1028]欲界五趣地; the desire realm with its five gati, i.e. hells, hungry ghosts, animals, men, and devas. In the four form-realms are:--

(2) [lang id =1028]離生喜樂地 Paradise after earthly life, this is also the first dhyāna, or subject of meditation, [lang id =1028]初禪.

(3) [lang id =1028]定生喜樂地 Paradise of cessation of rebirth, [lang id =1028]二禪.

(4) [lang id =1028]離喜妙樂地 Land of wondrous joy after the previous joys, [lang id =1028]三禪.

(5) [lang id =1028]捨念清淨地 The Pure Land of abandonment of thought, or recollection (of past delights), [lang id =1028]四禪. The four formless, or infinite realms, catur arūpa dhātu, are:--

(6) [lang id =1028]空無邊處地 ākāśānantyā-yatanam, the land of infinite space; also the first samādhi, [lang id =1028]第一定.

(7) [lang id =1028]識無邊處地 vijñānānamtyāyatanam, the land of omniscience, or infinite perception, [lang id =1028]二定.

(8) [lang id =1028]無所有處地 ākiñcanyāyatana, the land of nothingness, [lang id =1028]三定.

(9) [lang id =1028]非想非非想處地 naivasaṁjñānā-saṁjñāyatana, the land (of knowledge) without thinking or not thinking, or where there is neither consciousness nor unconsciousness, i.e. above either; this is the [lang id =1028]四定. Eitel says that in the last four, "Life lasts 20,000 great kalpas in the 1st, 40,000 in the 2nd, 60,000 in the 3rd, and 80,000 great kalpas in the 4th of these heavens."

此指三界中的九地。 三界為欲界、 色界、 無色界， 依禪定三昧的深淺， 色界、 無色界又各分為四禪天、 四無色天， 與欲界共立九種有情的住地， 此稱為九地或九有――即九種生存的處所。 九地為： 一、 欲界的五趣雜居地， 為地獄、 餓鬼、 畜生、 人、 天（六欲天）等雜居之所。 二、 離生喜樂地， 為色界的初禪天。 三、 定生喜樂地， 為色界第二禪天。 四、 離喜妙樂地， 為色界第三禪天。 五。 捨念清淨地， 為色界的第四禪天。 六、 空無邊處地， 為無色界的第一天。 七、 識無邊處地， 為無色界的第二天。 八、 無所有處地， 為無色界的第三天。 九、 非想非非想處地， 為無色界第四天――即有頂天。
